Jailed ex-MP switched to open prison

JAILED MP and former Calderdale councillor David Chaytor has been transferred to an open prison, after two weeks in tough Wandsworth Prison, London.

He is now alongside other “white collar” criminals in Spring Hill open prison in Bucks – a manor house set in immaculate gardens, which offers sporting activities and college classes.

Chaytor, 61, of Todmorden, pleaded guilty to three charges of false accounting and was sentenced to 18 months.

He could be free by the end of May.
