Pupils from St Josephs RC Primary School, Wellington Road, Todmorden, got their running shoes on to take part in their first Race for Life event.

All involved were given a sign to decorate, wear and to run or walk around Centre Vale Park in memory of a loved one who has had cancer.

So every child could cheer on their friends and siblings, the event was organised in two parts with older children competing a longer challenge after the lower school had finished their race.

All money raised was donated to Cancer Research UK and following the challenge on Wednesday, June 10, pupils returned to school to have a picnic in the grounds.

Headteacher Mrs Maria Cooper said, “We are very lucky to be situated so near to Centre Vale Park which we use as much as possible.

“The pupils thoroughly deserved their picnic after putting so much effort into the event. Thank you to everyone who donated, we reaised a fantastic £592.14.”
