Libraries stage live events

Calderdale libraries will be holding a week of film screenings, live music events and author talks as part of the Wyrd Britannia Festival.

It gets underway with a screening of ‘The Wicker Man’ (the 2013 restored vesion) at Halifax Central Library on Monday, January 20, at 6pm.

On Tuesday, January 21, Todmorden Library hosts a screening of early 1970s BBC Play for Today ‘Robin Redbreast’ at 6pm.

Hebden Bridge Library is the venue for the following day’s events. Andy Roberts, author of ‘Albion Dreaming: a popular history of LSD in Britain’, will give an audiovisual presentation at 6.30pm. This will be followed by a live set of acid folk by Magpahi at 8pm.

Admission is £3 for each event or £5 for both.

Halifax Central Libary hosts a screening of Alan Clarke’s BBC Play for Today ‘Penda’s Fen’ on Thursday at 6pm.

On Saturday, Chris Lambert, author of ‘Tales of the Black Meadow’, will give a talk at Todmorden Library at 6.30pm, followed by live music with Folklore Tapes at 8pm.

Admission is £3 for each event or £5 for both.
