Rehearsals are underway as members of Todmorden Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society (TAODS) prepare to tread the boards in their first play of 2014.
TAODS will be performing ‘The 39 Steps’ at the Hippodrome Theatre, Halifax Road, Todmorden, from February 19-22.
This stage adaptation of the famed 1935 Alfred Hitchcock film (and John Buchnan novel), follows unsuspecting Englishman Richard Hannay as he is inadvertently drawn into an elaborate plot by a beautiful female spy.
It features a cast of four performers playing about 150 roles, with hilarious results.
In the Spring, TAODS will bring classic musical ‘Oklahoma’ to the stage. The production will run from April 8-12.
And there is still time to send in your entries for TAODS’ writing competition ‘Voices of Todmorden’.
Authors are challenged to create a monologue between 1,500 and 2,000 words long, set in or referring to Todmorden, on the theme of charity.
Entry packs are available at Todmorden Information Centre or online at www.todhip.org.
