The weather was better than forecast last Sunday morning and a number of hardy cyclists tried out the Sky Ride around Todmorden.
It was supported by Tour De Tod, which is promoting the Tour De France’s arrival in the Calder Valley in July 2014, and also linked in with the South Pennines Walk and Ride Festival.
Tour De Tod’s Cynthia Murray and festival organisers Pennine Prospects’ Pam Warhurst were on hand to wave the riders off.
Cynthia said: “Starting from the bandstand in Centre Vale Park, Todmorden, the ride was a 14-mile loop that touched five corners of the great town of Todmorden and was ideal for anybody who wanted to improve their road riding confidence with some hill climbing. With the stunning views at the top they all decided the ride was definitely worth the climbs and the drizzle! Please visit www.tourdetod.co.uk for upcoming cycling events.”
