Lions set up account for Japan and NZ

TODMORDEN Lions Club has set up a bank account via which people can make donations to the relief effort in Japan and New Zealand.

Lions are raising funds to help those affected by last week’s devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan and the recent earthquake in Christchurch, New Zealand.

Albert Blackburn, from Todmorden Lions, said anybody who would like to make a donation to the Lions charity account can do so at Lloyds Bank, Halifax Road, Todmorden.

Bank staff will ask whether donors would like the money to go to the relief effort in Japan or New Zealand.

“Every penny will go direct to Lions clubs in the areas affected by the disasters,” Albert said.

“The Lions there will oversee the spending of it.”
