Taken from Stansfield Hall footbridge this picture taken by photographer and rail enthusiast David Evans is of the first train to traverse the recently completed Stansfield Hall Curve (Todmorden Curve) and is seen passing over Stansfield Hall Junction.

In doing so, it became the first train for over 40 years to travel directly from Todmorden to Burnley without the need to reverse at Hallroyd Junction, says David.

The train in the picture was a special rail tour named the Topper Chopper, run by Pathfinder Railtours.
