Appeal after cat shot by air gun

A PET owner is appealing for witnesses to come forward following a series of incidents in which cats have been shot with what is believed to be an air gun in Lydgate.

Pamela Wright, of Holme Street, said her cat has been shot four times and has three pellets lodged in its body.

The vet said it is too dangerous to remove them.

Pamela said: "Whoever is doing this is so cruel. My cat is in so much pain."

She said it was distressing to see her pet targeted in this way and particularly upsetting for her grandchildren who are very fond of the cat.

The first shooting happened on New Year's Day and there have been three further incidents since, the last one taking place last week.

Pamela said pet owners in the area are worried and she is asking anyone with information to contact the RSPCA or the police.
