Children and staff at upper Calder Valley primary schools have been bringing their favourite characters to life on World Book Day.

Many schools have been taking part in events today to mark the occasion.

Pictured above is Heptonstall School headteacher David Perrin reading with six-year-old Maiya Tang as staff attempt to complete a challenge of reading 100 stories to the children.

See next week’s Hebden Bridge Times and Todmorden News for a full round-up and photos of World Book Day in the upper Calder Valley.
