A school pupil has used her creative writing and culinary skills to win a prize in a national competition.

Brooke Stansfield, 11, of St Joseph’s Primary School, Todmorden, entered the Sony Pictures competition to write about a “foodimal” - a cross between food and an animal.

Judges were impressed with her lemon meringutan and awarded her the runners-up prize, which included a digital camera.
