Brush up those blue suede shoes!

BRUSH up your blue suede shoes, it's time to get rocking in the aisles!

The Friends of Todmorden Unitarian church are hosting a family-friendly rock and roll fundraiser for two local charities next Friday, March 28 (6 pm to 10 pm).

Musicians Wes and Rebecca Paul - also committee members - will be putting on some live music and there will also be a 50s and 60s disco to provide some extra sounds and benefit two charities, Todmorden In Bloom and the Polski Pals group.

Rebecca said: "This is a special family night , a chance to brush off those blue suede shoes, and bring your granny and the kids too!"

Funds raised for Todmorden In Bloom will help with flower planting in the town while the Polski Pals money will help them host a visit of 14 guests from the Polish town of Wapno for four days in May.

Pam Warhurst, chairperson of the Unitarian Friends Group, said: "The Unitarian building is a great venue for music and we want to encourage the use of the building for people of all ages.

"It's rare to get a chance to go and have a dance with the whole family. It's thelast day of the school holidays so it's a nice way to end the week."

There will also be a special prize for the best 50s and 60s outfit - so there is no excuse for not dressing up!

Wes Paul said: "We are really keen to help local groups and are very excited about playing in such a fabulous building."

Tickets are available from Todmorden Tourist Information Centre or on the door on the night. They are 5 (4 for concessions) and 12 for a family ticket.
