Calderdale aims to get ris of 'waste and duplication'

Calderdale Council's Cabinet agreed this week to move forward with a full review of administration and support services at the council.

Plans for the review include examining and streamlining processes wherever possible to make sure the potential for waste and duplication is removed.

Coun Peter Wardhaugh, Calderdale Cabinet member, performance and resources, says: "It is always important that we look for ways to improve value for money but never more so than now, by creating more effective and efficient administration systems we can better support frontline services and the people of Calderdale.

"I want to make sure we deliver the review quickly and effectively, ensuring we use our employees' skills and experience in developing the findings, engaging staff representative groups as part of this process."

The paper is also due for review by use of resources scrutiny panel members today (August 26).

Use of resources scrutiny panel chairman, Coun Bryan Smith, said: "The council is looking at better ways of working and we must look carefully at ways in which this can be achieved."
