Charity dance is a real floorfiller

NINETY dancers were joined by the Mayoress of Todmorden, Coun Pam Lally, and her consort, Mr Robert Hallowell, on the dancefloor at Todmorden Town Hall for a charity dance.

It raised 531.85 for Cancer Research UK, whose Todmorden fundraising committee organised the afternoon tea dance.

The sequence dancing was arranged by Brian Lobley and Sylvia Small, who organised the dances and music and also sold tickets for the event.

The 90 dancers who snapped them up were joined by the town’s civic heads for two hours of dancing, which was followed by tea provided by Todmorden C of E School. Cancer Research UK Todmorden members ran a raffle which boosted money raised.

One of the organising team, Jean Howorth, said everyone enjoyed their afternoon annd it had been a great success both in fundraising and enjoyment terms. “I’d also like to thank Adam Wolstenholme of the Exchange Coffee Company. We actually ran out of cups at one point and Adam saved the day by finding us some extra ones!” said Jean.
