Children’s Dahl-lightful week of book-based fun
Children at Todmorden C of E School dressed up as their favourite characters for Roald Dahl Day
BOOKS came to life as children dressed as their favourite characters for a school’s Roald Dahl Day.
Esio Trot, Fantastic Mr Fox, Matilda and even a chocolate factory were spotted at Todmorden C of E School as pupils celebrated the work of the popular children’s author.
Literacy co-ordinator Ruth Lee said the dressing up day was a great way to round off the school’s Roald Dahl week.
“It’s been a successful week,” she said. “They all came dressed as their favourite character or dressed in yellow, which is Roald Dahl’s favourite colour.
“All the children have looked at his books and each class has done a display about them.
“They have also done different activities, such as science experiments about George’s Marvellous Medicine.
“I think they have really enjoyed it - and the staff have got into it too.
“It’s been nice to focus on the Roald Dahl stories.”
Donations brought by the children and staff on the dressing up day will be given to Macmillan Cancer Support.
