A 50-year-old man was found guilty of possessing cocaine, resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer at Calderdale Magistrates Court.
Police were called to a domestic disturbance at Sackville Street, Todmorden, and arrested Shane Gengler, of Ashenhurst Road, Todmorden.
Gengler had been smoking crack cocaine at the scene and as officers tried to make an arrest, he pushed them out of the way and tried to make his escape.
For the next few minutes, Gengler tried to punch, kick and headbutt the two officers, striking one of them in face as he struggled to get away.
He was shot twice with a taser before the officers were able pin him to the ground.
The officers said he seemed to have “inhuman strength” and seemed immune to pain. Neither of the officers sustained any serious injuries as a result of the assault.
Gengler was found to be in possession of five small bags of cocaine and tested positive for the drug at the police station.
Gengler said: “It was all a blur, I totally apologise for hitting the officer, I don’t remember doing it.
“I didn’t want to get done, I wanted to take more drugs.”
He added: “Can you help me, or get me help for this addiction?”
He will be sentenced at Calderdale Magistrates Court on March 31.
