A POPULAR curate has moved onto pastures new after three-and-a-half happy years in Todmorden.
Rev Jeanette Roberts, curate at St Mary’s Church, has completed her training and has been appointed priest in charge in the parish of Sowerby with Cottonstones and Norland.
Canon Owen Page, vicar of Todmorden, who worked with Jeanette throughout her time in the town, said: “She was with us for three-and-a-half years as a hard working, loyal colleague.
“She was very instrumental in our church and was loved by all in the community. She will be much missed. Our loss is their gain.
“We gave her a lovely send off and we wish her God speed.”
Jeanette was also a regular visitor to Todmorden C of E School and spent lots of time working with the children.
Staff, pupils and governors presented her with flowers and a whole school photo.
Alwyn Sutcliffe, from the school, said: “She was well known to the children and was well liked and much loved. She is not too far away and we will visit her.”
