AN irresponsible pet owner who threw two loads of dog mess into the canal has been told to pay £257 in court costs.

Melvin Jackson, 54, of Baltimore Marina in Stackhills Road, Todmorden, also failed to clean up after his dog on February 2.

He was found guilty of being a person in charge of a dog who failed to remove faeces from designated land.
