Drinkers targeted by officers

POLICE have given ASBOs to four Todmorden men as part of a crackdown on anti-social behaviour in the town.

The four men aged 61, 26, 23 and 19 have been disrupting residents by drinking in Todmorden town centre, particularly on the market and by the canal.

Inspector Allan Raw, who is in charge of the Upper Valley Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: "Anti social behaviour is a high priority for our community in the Upper Valley.

"We have worked closely with Calderdale Council to obtain ASBOs against those accused of being the cause of a lot of the trouble and they clearly have an impact.

"I want residents to know that we are listening to what they have to say and together with other partners we are and will continue to take action."

The four men have recently been accused of breaching their orders and are now going through the criminal justice system.

Calderdale Council cabinet member David O'Neill, safer and stronger communities, said: "We are listening to local residents.

"They should not have to put up with anti-social behaviour and we will work with the police and partners to take robust action to tackle the problem."
