Police discovered cannabis plants and growing equipment when carrying out leaflet drops in Todmorden encouraging residents to dob in their neighbours if they believe they are growing the drug.

Acting on information from residents that cannabis was being grown in Industrial Street police were giving out information about the Crimestoppers anti-drug campaign in the area. When speaking to a 47-year-old woman on July 23, they became aware of a strong cannabis smell and found a drug production set up in her basement.

PC Ryan Stockton said: “A 47-year-old woman co-operated with police and was interviewed under caution. All the plants and equipment were seized and the investigation continues.”

If you suspect someone is growing cannabis in your neighbourhood, call the police via 101.
