Getting ready to celebrate
A school is inviting former pupils to come and celebrate its centenary next month.
Castle Hill Primary School, Todmorden, marks its 100th birthday this year and is preparing to launch a series of centenary celebrations.
It will begin with a special assembly on March 15 - the day the school was opened in 1913 - based on the history of Todmorden, using artefacts produced by high school students for the “Todmorden through time and space” exhibition last year.
Throughout the summer term, each year group will be looking at a particular decade and learning all about the fashion, artwork and dance of that era.
These will be showcased in a centenary summer fair in July.
The school would like to invite former pupils to come and talk to the children about the changes that have taken place over the years.
Headteacher Janet Leggett said: “Staff, children and governors at Castle Hill are all really excited about our up and coming centenary.
“We are in the process of planning a year of events with ideas ranging from ‘Dancing through the decades’ to creating a memory collection.”
