STAFF and children at ABC Nursery are celebrating getting the top five-star food hygiene rating in its latest inspection.
The nursery has had a five-star rating before and went down to four stars at the previous inspection, cook Shirley Duxbury putting in some hard work to ensure the top grading was regained.
Shirley said getting five stars was a source of great pride and a lot of work had been put into achieving it.
“We are inspected every 12 to 18 months but you never know when the inspectors are coming,” said Shirley, explaining that has ensured the high standards were retained all the time.
The grading also earned Shirley the nursery’s employee of the month award.
Business manager Marie Barker said the award resulting from the rating was well deserved.
“Shirley has worked and worked really hard - she was so disappointed last time. Everyone is very proud of her. Also, parents are always commenting on how good the meals are. Shirley is always looking at new menus, healthy eating and alternative options,” she said.
