Hairdresser Katie Worrall has let Le Tour go to her head – literally.

The 19-year-old, from Pellon, Halifax, has had the ultimate cycle-inspired haircut in honour of the world’s greatest cycle race.

Staff at Hair and Beauty World in Burnley Road, Mytholmroyd, where Katie works, have named the head-turning style Queen of the Mountains and plan to use the images on their website and Facebook and Twitter account.

Forty-year-old stylist Rachael Newbould of Copley, Halifax, created the look to celebrate the event.

She bought a bike from Pennine Signs, next door to the salon, and wrapped the wheels in hair extensions.

Then she attached it to Katie’s head with a simple French plait and pins. A victory roll and curls finished the style off.

She said: “The eyes of the world will be on Yorkshire this weekend and we wanted to mark this historic occasion with a style fitting such an event.

“We all plan to watch the race on Sunday. It will be all over in a heartbeat but our hairstyle will be around for years to come.”
