The winner of Todmorden Market Association’s design a “celebrate Tour De Tod” T-shirt logo competition has been announced as the build up to the Tour weekend on July 5 and 6 gathers pace.

Ten-year-old Walsden St Peter’s School pupil Katie Atkinson was the winner, her design proudly printed on a yellow shirt and these are available to buy from the market at £5.50 each, with proceeds going to the market association’s chosen charity for the occasion, Small Steps - Seize The Day, which gives help and advice to families of children diagnosed with the condition epilepsy.

Jean Hartley of the association said: “Well done Katie and thank you to all the children who entered their designs - they will all be on display over the Tour weekend inside the market, where T-shirts and raffle tickets will be on sale.”

The next Tour events at the market are on Saturday, June 28. As well as beer and blue cheese tasting at the Crumbly Cheese stall, the pop-up Brook Street Art Gallery will be open at the market, where local artists have space to exhibit and sell their work.

The Gand Raffle draw being made by actor Dominic Brunt, who plays vet Paddy in TV’s Emmerdale, will now take place at around 5.30pm on Sunday, July 6.

The later time is due to that day’s race road closures, which mean Dominic won’t be able to get to the town until then.
