Kebs crash - man critically ill
A MAN is critically ill in hospital after a crash in Calderdale on Wednesday, November 28.
The 33-year-old from Hebden Bridge was in a green Skoda Octavia which crashed on Kebs Road at Blackshaw Head, near Todmorden, at around 9am.
He was airlifted to a hospital in Preston wither serious injuries.
Another man, in a silver Peugeot 106, who was also airlifted to hospital in Preston with serious injuries was this morning described as stable.
The Skoda, travelling towards Burnley, is understood to have skidded sideways as it came round a bend, before crashing with the Peugeot which was travelling in the opposite direction.
Three other vehicles - a blue Honda Jazz, a silver Mercedes C220 and a black VW Polo - then crashed around the accident.
Two other men suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene.
Icy conditions are believed to have been a factor.
The road was shut until around 2.15pm while emergency services dealt with the accident.
Police are urging drivers to take extra care while out on the roads in icy conditions.
Sergeant Andrew Gudgeon, from the Western Area Roads Policing Team, advised people to stick to main roads where possible, to drive to the conditions with considerable care and attention, to take suitable clothing in case of a break down or accident, to keep mobile phones charged up and to let people know which routes you plan to take.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to call the Western Area Roads Policing Unit via 101.
