LEGENDS of the game were spotted at Centre Vale as Todmorden Cricket Club’s 175th anniversary celebrations continued.

A Lancashire League Legends team took on a Todmorden XI in a special challenge match watched by an appreciative crowd.

It was shaping up to be a tight finish but unfortunately rain stopped play.

Ian Roberts, from Todmorden CC, said: “The rain and midges became too much and everyone agreed enough was enough and shook hands. Enough credit cannot be given to all the players who took part and Todmorden Cricket Club would like to give a massive vote of thanks to all players who took part,”

After the cricket Keith Roscoe, from the Legends team, and his band The Riflemen of War took to the stage to perform their own brand of new wave covers.

“It rounded the day off superbly,” Ian said.

The next anniversary event will be a fun team quiz, taking place in the club’s main function room on Wednesday September 26 at 7.45pm.

Teams of no more than four people are invited to take part. Admission £6 per team.

There will be a prize of a gallon of beer or equivalent for the winners.

To enter a team, contact the club on 01706 813140 or call Ian Roberts on 07717 315031.

l The 175 raffle, which has a first prize of £1,000, will be drawn on Sunday, September 9, after the final home league game against Colne. Tickets are still available from members and the club.
