Man convicted of growing cannabis in loft
A MAN grew cannabis in his loft and shared it with his friends, a court heard.
Police visited Benjamin Brady last January at his home in Halifax Road, Todmorden, after being tipped off about drugs being grown.
Brady, 21, admitted to officers that he had been growing the drugs and that he had been abstracting electricity in order to do so.
Officers found 18 large plants with a street value of almost £9,000. They also found small bags, digital scales and fertiliser.
Brady admitted producing, possessing and supplying the class B drug.
Bradford Crown Court heard how Brady had shared the drugs with his friends because he had grown more than he could use himself.
Judge Colin Burn told Brady, who now lives in Longfield Close, Todmorden: “Growing cannabis is illegal and if you are convicted of supplying it again your sentence will be much greater.”
Brady will have to do 180 hours of unpaid work as part of his 12 month community order.
