A businessman has received a boost in the form of a generous donation of hundreds of toys and games left to him in a will.

Mike Woollerton, who owns Todmorden Toy and Model Museum, has received a bequest of more than 20 boxes of items from Rochdale man Walter Moros, who died recently.

Mike has been going through the toys and will be creating a display at the museum, on Rochdale Road, Todmorden, in memory of Walter.

“When I heard from the solicitor I thought ‘Oh God, what’s this?’,” Mike said.

“I have never had anything like this before.

“The only condition is that I put up a display with Walter’s name on it.”

After doing some research and going back through his records, Mike discovered Walter was a former customer at the museum.

In memory of Walter, Mike will donate proceeds from the sale of the toys he donated to the Autism Society.

It will take him a while to go through and sort all the toys, but Mike is being helped by work experience student Sam Tindal.

Sam, 16, of Ryburn School, spends one day a week at the museum, accompanied by a teacher.

“He’s doing very well, Mike said.

“He is very keen on Thomas the tank engine and he has helped put up a display of Thunderbirds toys from Walter’s collection.”

The donation of toys is another example of the luck Mike said he has had since being part of Derren Brown’s TV show filmed in Todmorden last year.

“Ever since then I’ve had so much luck here. It’s incredible,” he said.
