New fund has aim to help valley’s voluntary groups

THE Community Foundation for Calderdale (CFFC) is offering a new fund to benefit local voluntary groups and charities in the upper Calder Valley.

The foundation is looking for applications from local community groups, residents’ associations, community centres and voluntary groups.

Groups who apply must have a charitable purpose and be doing work that directly benefits people living in the Todmorden, Walsden, Cornholme, Eastwood, Hebden Bridge, Heptonstall, Charlestown, Blackshaw Head, Colden, Cragg Vale and Mytholmroyd areas.

Applications must be completed online at www.cffc.co.uk and be received by Friday October 26.

To be eligible, groups must:

l Have a constitution or relevant governance document

l Have their own bank account and provide annual accounts

l Have an appropriate, written policy for safeguarding children/young people/vulnerable adults, if they work with any of these groups

l Ensure that their services and activities are open and accessible to everyone in the community that they serve

l Submit any and all documents requested, and ensure all are signed and dated by at least one officer of the management committee (ie chairman, vice chairman, treasurer or secretary)

Awards will be made from early November onwards, with special celebratory events and cheque presentations to successful groups.
