New home for White Ribbon is set to boost charity

MAYOR of Hebden Royd, John Beacroft-Mitchell cut the ribbon to officially open the White Ribbon Campaign's new offices in Mytholmroyd, this week.

The locally based, national charity, which works to end male violence against women, also welcomed the Mayor of Todmorden Coun Cheryl Stovin and many other dignitaries and supporters.

The visitors were shown around the new larger premises and there were a number of displays and presentations showing the work of White Ribbon.

A display of the website, which is currently being redeveloped and will be available soon was also demonstrated.

The building, on the corner of New Road, Mytholmroyd, is now known as White Ribbon House and already has volunteers, working hard to make 2010 a year to be remembered.

"The charity will continue to work with the Hebden Bridge Community as well as the whole of Calderdale, and have a number of exciting new ideas for the upcoming year.

"We are hoping that the move to Mytholmroyd will allow us to take on more volunteers and do more work with the local community," said Chris Green, who is the executive director of The White Ribbon Campaign.
