Not just style, but lots to teach and learn too

A hair academy which delivers NVQ qualifications in hair and beauty took an artistic team to a neighbouring further education college for its industrial week.
Creative director of Stone Hair Art, Burnley Road, Todmorden, established with partner Trevor Harding last year and celebrating its first anniversary, delivers NVQs to levels 1, 2 and 3 in partnership with Calderdale College but went over to the red rose county to teach students taking part in Blackburn College’s industrial week.
Loucas led a team which included Shannon Saville, who is Calderdale College’s 2012 apprentice of the year, Jenny Baldwin and Tom Mallinson to host a seminar for around 30 NVQ levels 2 and 3 hair and beauty students.
They taught students the art of media make up and hair and also shared their knowledge that education is the most powerful weapon you can have to change your life.
One ethos of Stone Hair Art developed by Loucas and Trevor is keeping education at the forefront of technical excellence with dedication and discipline, its tutors interpreting and teaching different techniques, striving for excellence and pushing creative boundaries.
Loucas demonstrated hair and media make-up with his model being head of hair and beauty at Blackburn College, Claire Cribelli. In the afternoon session, the students had a practical session in which they practiced the techniques demonstrated. Shannon and Jenny were on hand to offer advice, whilst Tom covered the session by taking photographs.
Loucas and Trevor and their team believe all emlpoyers need to embrace education, developing staff in all aspects of hairdressing.
The two Stone Hair Art partners said: “Our business works by evolution, we spend a lot of time and money ensuring our staff and students at colleges nurture any given opportunities to enjoy a long, lasting and flourishing career in the industry.”
