PARISHIONERS and pets gathered for an annual animal service.

The pet blessing service at St Mary’s Church, Todmorden, saw canines join the congregation to give thanks for all of God’s creation but especially pets.

Prayers were said for all who work with animals, including local charities.

Rev Nancy White, who led the service with help from her dog Oz, said: “The dogs were well behaved and enjoyed being blessed. A good time was had by all.

“Daffodil bulbs were planted in memory of pets that had died. The pot is now outside the church door and will flower in spring.”
