School presents gifts to long-serving cook
Doris Riding, assistant cook at Todmorden C of E School, presented with flowers by the children after clocking up 25 years in the school's kitchen
Staff and pupils served up a selection of gifts to a cook who has clocked up 25 years in a school’s kitchen.
Doris Riding, assistant cook at Todmorden C of E School, received gift vouchers, flowers and a card from the children, staff and governors during a surprise assembly.
Mrs Riding said: “I was surprised to receive these lovely gifts.
“I was speechless, which is a first for me.”
Mrs Riding started working as a cook at Todmorden High School before moving to her current position.
“I have enjoyed seeing the changes in school catering, and have worked with many people, and loved being with the children,” she said.
Headteacher Chris Wightman said it was a pleasure to present the gifts to Doris.
He said: “She is a loyal, dedicated member of our staff and we hope she enjoys spending her vouchers and having a well deserved treat.”
