Todmorden High School and Calder High School were among many schools in Calderdale to close yesterday (Wednesday) due to strike action by the National Union of Teachers.
Todmorden headteacher Andrew Whitaker said: “It would not be safe to operate with this number of teaching staff absent. I would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
At Calder the school was only open to Years 11, 12 and 13. Headteacher Anthony Guise apologised for any inconvenience and hoped the issues over which the strike arose will be resolved as soon as possible.
