The sights and sounds of a busy weekend at Todmorden Market are usually entertaining enough - but watch out for splashes of colour over Easter!
Many of the traders inside and out will be wearing their best Easter bonnets and they are also running a colouring competition for children, and there is still time for you to enter it.
Pictures can be picked up from outside stallholders Kerry (furniture) and Christine (cheese), or inside from Brian’s (cooked meat), the pet stall and the Crumbly Cheese stall.
All you have to do is get your pens or crayons out and colour them in as best you can!
Easter egg prizes to be presented to the winners at 3.30pm on Easter Saturday by Rowena Goldthorpe, the producer and director of Todmorden Gang Show, which will soon be hitting the stage at the Hippodrome Theatre.
Other events in a busy Easter in Todmorden include the traditional Churches Together In Todmorden Good Friday Walk of Witness, which sets off from St Joseph’s Church, Wellington Road, around 11.15am, following a short service.
The parade will make its way through the town centre to the Peace Garden for another short act of worship, and this year it will then move to St Mary’s Church, where hot cross buns will be served. That will be followed by a “messy church” event aimed at providing more entertainment for the little ones.
St Mary’s is also the place to be on Saturday evening when an Easter Light service will be held at 7pm to bring in Easter and this will include some fireworks, hot dogs, fun and worship.
And don’t forget there is still time to register and get help doing up your bike or scooter for next Saturday’s Fantastical Cycle Parade (April 26). See page 12 of this week’s issue for times and details of how to go about it.
