Todmorden Show: Strong entry from roses counties

THE cattle section secretary, Philip Stephenson, was delighted to report a very strong entry of over 40 cattle for the show.

Entries came from Lancashire and Yorkshire, and included a strong showing of native breeds, including Herefords and Aberdeen Angus as well as a good range of continental breeds. Freddie, a beef shorthorn bull, was by far the weightiest animal in the section and much admired by the general public.

Mr Stephenson was particularly pleased to see Champion Dairy Cow awarded to Mr Midgely of Dean House Farm, Luddenden Foot, and the Reserve Champion Dairy Cow awarded to Mr Hitchen of Crib Farm, Luddenden. Both farms produce, bottle and retail milk in the local area; the quality of their farm-bred stock assured them of the top prizes in their section.

Stewards on the day were Brent Furness and John Newsome
