Todmorden Show: Red letter day for showjumpers

A CALDER Valley team of showjumpers took the red rosettes in Todmorden Agricultural Show's team showjumping event.

Alanna Pilling riding Replicara, Paula Radcliffe riding Super Chippe, Donna Patten riding Baron and Amy Lindley riding Monarch's Glen claimed the first prize by eight faults to take the title with Donna Patten and Amy Lindley riding clear rounds to secure victory.

Alanna Pilling, said: "Amy became a late substitute to the team on the day of the event in place of local rider Kirsty Patten following an accident in the car park at the showground where her ride Ross Cottage King became injured and could not compete."

Alanna, whose yard is based in Mytholmroyd, has been showjumping for many years and took this opportunity to bring on her four- year-old home bred Irish Draught mare Replicara. Alanna is currently training Paula and Kirsty in showjumping and Todmorden Show this year marked 12 months of Paula and Kirsty competing in showjumping competitions.
