We're singing and dancing in the rain
RAIN failed to dampen spirits at Eastwood Festival where adults and children enjoyed a bumper day of activities.
Crowds flocked to Bridgeholme Cricket Club for a packed bill of entertainment including music, dancing and theatre.
Festival organiser Tillie Chappell said the event, now in its third year, was amazing.
“Clouds would come over and completely drench us but the show went on. We kept on dancing and it didn’t hinder us at all,” she said.
“Eastwood residents came out in force and worked really hard putting up tents and so on - they really made the day.”
Manchester tribal dance group The Urban Gypsies wowed visitors with their colourful performance, while Northgate Players delighted onlookers with their interpretation of Mother Goose.
Craft and charity stalls lined the field while Todmorden Brass Band, singer song writer Geoff Watson and Manchester band One of Many played on despite the downpours.
“An amazing part of the day was when Geoff Watson played to the few people dancing in the rain while we took the tents down,” added Mrs Chappell.
“We were helped this year by funding from Calderdale Council and Todmorden Town Council. It was bigger and better in a lot of ways”.
