Children and their families had afternoon tea with a difference at a Mad Hatter’s party.

More than 60 people attended the event at The Old Library, in Cornholme, where they took part in games and tucked into refreshments in the presence of the Mad Hatter, the Queen of Hearts and the White Rabbit.

Administrator Amanda Batty said: “Thanks to everyone wo came and made it such a great success.

“We all had a really enjoyable day.”

Amanda said The Old Library organises regular events for people of all ages and is aiming to increase awareness of the facilities and activities it offers.

These include a parent and toddler group on Monday morning, a job club on Tuesday afternoon and an over 50s DIY club for men on Wednesday morning.

“We have been open for nearly a year,” Amanda said.

“It’s picking up all the time but we want to get more people coming along.”

Next month’s family event will be a Guerilla Play Day on Saturday, April 12, featuring woodland activities and den building.
