Todmorden Indoor Market is now open for business on Sundays.
The change was introduced last month and will be trialled until the end of the year.
Many have welcomed the new hours, including Margaret Garlick, who runs Designs Boutique in the market.
“We’ve just started opening on a Sunday from now up until Christmas and its proving really fruitful.
“So far the response has been really good and we hope to carry it on from now up until December.
“Hopefully more people will come and give the market a go inside as well as outside.”
Others were critical of the new hours, including Adam Wolstenholme, Manager at the Exhange Coffee Company.
“I think you need to get the main market days sorted and everyone opening all day before considering extra days,” he said.
Paul Stansfield, of PW Stansfield Butchers said that he wouldn’t benefit from opening on a Sunday because of the nature of his business.
“Most people have bought their meat on a Saturday,” he said.
“If you go to any market anywhere in the country the butchers will be shut on a Sunday.”
Sinh Nguyen, of Oriental Foods and Gifts, tried the new hours but said she had not seen any benefit.
Todmorden Indoor Market is now open from 10am on Sundays.
