WALSDEN Pirates, a group of ex-footballers who have already raised more than £20,000 for charities, completed their latest charity cycle ride.

Funds raised from their latest test, a west to east coast ride on July 2 and 3, will be split between two charities – Cancer Research UK and Help for Heroes.

To boost the monies raised even further this Saturday, July 9, a charity fundraising evening is to be held at Walsden Cricket Club. Tickets are £5 and available from any of the cyclists or from Margaret’s (indoor market) and Walsden Post Office.

Artists performing are popular local band Jim’s Garage, Gary Pickering with his Elvis tribute and light entertainment from Terry Thompson. Keith Rudman will be the night’s DJ.
