MEMBERS of a community group got into the seasonal spirit by making Easter bonnets.

At last week’s Oak over 50s drop-in event at Central Methodist Church, Todmorden, people spent time creating their own pieces of headwear during the craft session.

The bonnets then went on display for everybody to see while judges selected the winners.

Prizes were awarded to Margaret Grant, Jean Greenwood and Joan Taylor.

A spokesperson said: “This is just an example of how much people are enjoying it at Oak.

“Special days show that we get a lot of people coming in and really enjoying themselves.”

Oak runs the drop-in event on a weekly basis, featuring a variety of sessions including line dancing and singing.

Anybody aged over 50 is welcome to attend. Admission is £2 for the whole day.

Home-made food is available at lunchtime, served by Oak volunteers.

Now that Spring is here, Oak is planning several day trips for members.
