IF you go down to Centre Vale Park on April 14, you’ll be in for a big surprise.

Teddy bears will be out in force for the first ever Todmorden Teddy Toddle, organised by Overgate Hospice.

Children and their families are invited to bring their cuddly toys to the park for the sponsored walk.

Deirdra Johnston, manager of the Overgate Hospice shop in Todmorden, said: “It’s going to be a really good day.

“Bring the kids, bring a picnic and have a brilliant time.

“Even if it’s raining, put the macs on and splash in the puddles.”

Local firefighters will be attending the event with their mascots Blaze Bear and Freddie the fire engine.

Freddie will be taking youngsters on rides around the park.

There will also be a bear hunt, Punch and Judy show, face painting and refreshments available.

Todmorden Lions will be helping out on the day, joining forces with the Rotary Club and volunteers from Overgate.

Deirdra said: “Come and join us and support the hospice and have a great time with us in the park.

“Hopefully we will be able to bring more events into the Todmorden area.”

Registration forms for the Teddy Toddle are available from the Overgate Hospice shops on Halifax Road, Todmorden, and on Crown Street, Hebden Bridge.

There is a £2 registration fee, which includes a free goodie bag.

The Hare and Hounds, on Burnley Road, has kindly offered free parking on the day.
