A TODMORDEN man will be swapping the sky for the ground to raise money for the RAF Benevolent Fund (RAFBF).

Scott Dobson will be part of Team “Relentless Ride”, a group of eight serving RAF personnel based at RAF High Wycombe, who will cycle from Land’s End to John O’Groats over three days this month to raise money for the RAF’s leading welfare charity.

“We decided to help the RAF Benevolent Fund as they do so much to support serving and former RAF personnel and their families,” said Scott

“Corporal William ‘Charlie’ Manson is a great example of that. He worked at RAF Halton from 2005 to 2007 and injured his lower spine during a mortar attack in Iraq and was medically discharged from the RAF.

“Once discharged personal attempts to find suitable housing proved unsuccessful. The RAFBF were able to provide him with a house through their Housing Trust and make a real difference to his life.

“This case is just one of many that the RAFBF takes on, and they wouldn’t be able to do it without people making donations, so we’re really keen to get them all the support we can.”
