Jamie Wardley ages his sand sculpture at Hebden Bridge Town Hall last week, pictured by staff photographer Charles Round.
Jamie, of Sandinyoureye, created his initial sculpture of Loss Is Eternal in August - a portrayal of a weeping widow who has been informed her husband has been killed in action - to mark the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the first world war.
He will be ageing the statue every few months to show that the pain of such a loss never goes away.
