Plumber picks up a pen to inspire

A PLUMBER who has served the upper Calder Valley for over 20 years has downed tools to write her first book.

Lumbutts resident Hattie Hasan, founder of Stopcocks Women Plumbers, is launching “The Joy of Plumbing: A guide to living the life you really, really want” at School House, Mytholm Bank, Hebden Bridge, from 6pm to 8pm on Thursday February 24.

Hattie, a former primary school teacher, who decided to become a self-employed plumber in her 30’s, believes that her book can inspire women to break down the employment stereotypes that society places on them from an early age.

You can download free chapters at the website www.joyofplumbing.co.uk and watch Hattie reading extracts at www.youtube.com/stopcocks.

The book, which will be for sale at the launch, will also be available at The Book Case, Market Street, Hebden Bridge from February 24.
