Police investigating sudden rise in crime

There were an unusually high number of crimes committed in the upper Calder Valley on Tuesday.

Police are investigating four burglaries, a theft from a person, an attempted theft and an attempted burglary - all separate incidents.

Nothing was taken during an attempted theft on Cragg Road, Cragg Vale, while an unknown person attempted to siphon fuel from an underground storage tank in Burnley Road, Mytholmroyd.

Three men trying to find an address in Todmorden walked into a property in Knowlwood Road, before realising it was the wrong house and fleeing.

Items were stolen from an address in Stephen Street, Hebden Bridge.

Property was also removed from an address in Manor Drive, Hebden Bridge, and vehicle keys were taken from an address in Cragg Vale - but it was searched and not taken.

Items were also taken from a person in Market Street, Hebden Bridge, in a possible bag dipping incident.
