Three upper Calder Valley members of the Labour Party will be the guests of honour at a special event this weekend to mark their long service.

Violet Noble, Frank McManus and Tony Booth, who are members of the Todmorden and Walsden branch, will be the special guests for afternoon tea at Central Methodist Hall, Todmorden, on Saturday, September 21, from 2.30pm until 4pm.

All three have been Labour Party members for more than 50 years and will be asked to cut a cake to mark their achievement.

Former Mayor of Todmorden Tony Greenwood, himself a Labour Party member for 34 years, said: “The three people to be honoured on Saturday are an absolute inspiration.

“They have been true to their beliefs all their long lives, and if there were more people like them the world would be a better place.”

All are welcome to attend the afternoon tea on Saturday afternoon.
