CAMPAIGNERS are appealing for support as they attempt to renew Todmorden’s Fairtrade Town status.
Last February, Todmorden was officially declared a Fairtrade Town after businesses, churches, community groups, schools and the town council all got behind the campaign - spearheaded by the Todmorden Fairtrade Group - by using, serving, selling and promoting Fairtrade products.
Now, a year later, the group has to show that Todmorden still meets the five goals set out by the Fairtrade Foundation when it is reassessed.
A coffee morning will be held at Central Methodist Church on Saturday February 19.
Coun Cheryl Stovin, from the Fairtrade group, encouraged people to attend and said the group is looking for new members.
“Anybody who would like to join the committee would be made most welcome,” she said.
