CHILDREN put on their running shoes to raise money for school funds.

Pupils at Todmorden C of E School did a sponsored run around Centre Vale cricket field to raise funds for the school’s parent and teacher association (PTA).

Headteacher Chris Wightman said: “It’s been absolutely fantastic.

“The children have been brilliant. They had a great time.”

There were record-breaking performances by Callum Roberts and Maisy Leadbitter, who both completed 16 laps of the field, which equates to approximately four miles.

Mel Wainner, chairwoman of the PTA, said: “The stamina of some of the children was amazing.”
