A “theatre in education” company based in the upper Calder Valley has created a new anti-bullying show based around the characters of Punch and Judy.
StoryMagic, of Todmorden, came up with the idea after requests from, and discussions with, primary schools in the area. Their new show, “Oh yes it is... oh no it isn’t...” will feature some of the popular characters from the traditional puppet show.
The production has been devised to coincide with Anti-Bullying Week, which runs from November 18 to 22.
A spokesperson for StoryMagic said: “Studies show that 46 per cent of children and young people say they have been bullied. Ranging from teasing and spreading rumours to more physical attacks, it can leave children feeling sad, alone and less confident. StoryMagic sets out to show children the effects bullying can have.”
Any schools or organisations that want to book the show should call 01706 810788 or email firstname.lastname@example.org for details.
